KASRA SABOKTAKIN

Bass player/ Educator

Born in 1976 in tehran, Kasra Saboktakin is one of Iran's prominent musicians who has adeptly merged the essence of Iranian Folk with Rock music, and  has recorded and toured with a wide array of Iranian and international artists for the past thirty years.

Among his career highlights are collaborations with Monte Pittman (Madonna, Adam Lambert, Prong),  Dennis Hamm (Thundercat, Alice Smith), Greg Ellis (Zakir Hussain/Micky Hart/Billy Idol), Ben Riley (Bruce Cockburn/Holly Cole/Michael Burgess/Alain Caron), Anders Nillson (Arvam Fefer/Elliott Sharp), Anoushirvan Rohani (Maestro Persian pianist/composer), Mohsen Namjoo (Iranian Singer/songwriter/scholar), Sara Naini, Kiosk, O-Hum, Dang Show, Pallet, Kaveh Yaghmaee, and many others.

Since his arrival to the U.S. in 2008, he has toured around the world  tossed out shows at prestigious halls including Lincoln Center Alice Tully Hall and Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York; Shrine Auditorium, UCLA Royce Hall, and Zipper hall, Los Angeles; Palace of Fine Arts and Yoshi’s Jazz Club, San Francisco; Union chapel and indigo at the O2, London; Toronto Center For The Arts, Toronto; BOZAR Center For The Arts, Brussels; Volkswagen Arena and Istanbul Congress Center; Istanbul, and many more.

Aside from performing on stage with other musicians, he is a composer writing scores for documentary movies. He has recently finished scoring music for the Persian-Swedish documentary “ A Pot Full Of dreams”.

 

Kasra is currently touring and recording with New York-Based Iranian singer "Mohsen Namjoo", Istanbul-Based Alternative/Progressive Rock Band “Modal Waves”, Iranian Tar virtuoso, composer and singer “Milad Derakhshani” among others.
